New location for Cornelius the Dragon!

One of my first goals in my first publishing year was to have Cornelius the Dragon in every town in the Kootenays. Publishing and marketing a book is a marathon - not a sprint (not to mention pretty much a full-time job when considering social media)! It was a steep learning curve, but I have learned this. While I am still spreading this amazing book to families across the province and country, I have some new locations!

Since publishing two years ago, I have worked exclusively with independent bookstores. Some may say this is not a "smart" business decision to leave out mainstream names like Chapters, but I value the "support local" movement so much, that I decided this would be the best fit for Cornelius. This way I am supporting locally and family-owned businesses, that are in turn supporting a local author who invests in their own community. I love that! We all win. Plus it's much more fun getting to know locals and fellow bookish people who are always so supportive and encouraging.

Of course, Cornelius is also available on Amazon. While I don't like to advertise this because Amazon has enough money, and I also only make about $1-$2 per book, the reality is that this reaches a much wider range of families, including in the States, which is a nightmare to ship to with Canada Post. Oh, the learning continues...

Earlier this year I contacted the new owners of the charming Polar Peek Books & Treasures in the beautiful Fernie, BC. They were enthusiastic to support a local author right away, and finally this fall I found the time to drive up and bring Cornelius to his new location. He is THRILLED! While I was there I got to meet up with another local maker, and that was a great day. I want to thank the women at Polar Peek Books for supporting a local woman trying to make her dream come true.

Check with your independent bookstore FIRST before buying books online. You are directly supporting a family, a dreamer, a maker, and the local economy. Support local!
